PETALING JAYA: Come for a haircut and other hairdos at Sunway Pyramid for the Cutathon 8, a fund-raising event organized by A Cut Above Academy in partnership with the Malay Mail Care Fund (MMCF) in aid of The Malaysia AIDS Foundation (MAF).

The launch ceremony this morning was graced by A Cut Above Academy Headmaster Peter Wong, MMCF trustee Izzana Salleh and Malay Mail COO Endie Shazlie Akbar, Malaysia AIDS Foundation MAF Trustee Board members Ralph Dixon and Datuk Mohd Zaman Khan and City and Guilds Malaysia country director Ian Noronha.

“ A Cut Above Academy is proud to work with The Malay Mail Care Fund to raise not only funds but also public awareness and at the same time educating the people on the prevention of HIV and AIDS,” said Wong.

“Husband and boyfriends should bring their wives and girlfriends for the make-up promotion so they will spend less time preparing at home,” joke the Mohd Zaman, and thanked Wong and his students for contributing to the cause.

A Cut Above Academy Head of Educators Linda Hatta said the event was one that everybody, from students to educators, was looking forward to. “The students improve a lot in their techniques and can take ownership of their own skills in the Cutathon.”
For RM10, you can get a hair cut from the students and educators of the academy, and there will be promotional freebies and when you spend RM35 for a haircut, you can get a free hairstyling product.

A makeover promotion is also available which includes a haircut, make-up and a photoshoot, all for RM60.

With the Cutathon 8 Fund Raising event, A Cut Above Academy will be chanelling the funds given to The Malay Mail Care Fund, in support of the Malaysia AIDS Foundation to held the unfortunate individuals who has been infected with HIV and AIDS. “We have gone through 30 years of HIV epidemic, and the worst is the discrimination of those infected as they are shunned by the public,” said Dixon.
“However, I am glad as the stigma and discrimination can be reduced and eventually erased with more awareness raising events like the Cutathon which has been graciously organized by A Cut Above Academy and The Malay Mail Care Fund,” said Dixon.

The funds raised are to assist the MAF medical needs for the unfortunate.

The Cutathon 8 will be held from 11am to 7pm until Sunday at Orange Concourse, Sunway Pyramid.

A Cut Above Academy was awarded the best training centre by world renowned education body, City and Guilds of London from 2006 to 2008, for three consecutive years.
