By the end of the week, HFC-23 projects had seen seven requests for review coming from the CDM Executive Board in total, which will delay the issuance of a total of 10.1 Mt of CERs.

The carbon market spent most of August asleep before regulatory risk kicked it into action in the middle of last week. The risk had been around since the CDM Executive Board (EB) July meeting in Bonn when the members decided to investigate claims that the provision of carbon finance to HFC-23 projects was creating perverse incentives to project operators to increase the volumes of that gas that are produced and subsequently destroyed.

COMPANIES from a range of industries were lauded for innovative, sustainable and green initiatives at the third annual Singapore Green Summit (SGS) yesterday.

Leading the pack in terms of awards won was energy group Power- Seraya.

Organised by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Singapore Environment Council (SEC), the summit featured three award categories.

I found out about Earth Hour way back in 2007 after Australia went dark and knew at once that it was something I should adopt in my life. Earth Hour 2008 coincided with a church camp, so I suggested that we have our sessions in candlelight and everyone was enthusiastic about it. Needless to say, it was pretty amazing!

YTL buys controlling stake in SV Carbon

KUALA LUMPUR: YTL Corp Bhd has acquired a controlling stake in a clean development mechanism developer (CDM), SV Carbon, now known as YTL-SV Carbon Sdn Bhd.

Managing director Tan Sri Francis Yeoh said the company was the largest CDM consultancy in Malaysia and the third largest in Asean, with 30 projects under development in Malaysia. It also has ongoing consulting projects in Indonesia, Thailand and China.  [read more]

YTL Corporation announced today their acquisition of Malaysian-based Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) developer, SV Carbon, now known as YTL-SV Carbon Sdn Bhd.
